Disabled Refuge & EVCS |
All commercial buildings with more than one storey must now make the necessary arrangements
to include disabled refuge points. In the event of a fire, these refuge points act as a safe area
for staff or customers with a disability or limited mobility who cannot use fire
escapes or otherwise escape the area. |

Emergency Voice
Communication Systems |
Refuge areas must be deemed fit for purpose and can contain emergency-use equipment for the occupant including EVCS (Emergency Voice Communications). EVCS allows the occupant to get in contact with an operator, who can pinpoint their location and forward this information along with any other, to the emergency services attending the scene. |
